  • So cool to see the “Pine Plains Tractor” sticker. My grandmother lived in Elizaville for a long time. Great memories of your part of NY.

  • andrew, you should make a mower shaft straighting fixture. I know you usually just bash it with a hammer but the fixture is pretty simple, just a steel plate with a "tower" for some bolts to hold and push the shaft, 4 holes to mouth the engine to.

  • The “weird” action you mention like it’s mysterious. It’s from cutting a branch top down. End drops first knocks kevin off his ladder when the butt goes. Undercut first then top cut, then finish cut. So it doesn’t tear all the way down the side off the tree like you’ve shown us all here.

  • When getting down to the last cut near the main tree trunk, it's always good to do a undercut to avoid peel out down the trees trunk.

  • Couldn't have picked a better way to damage the tree. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

    stephen valestephen vale9 kun oldin
    • @Andrew Camarata Doing the cuts working back from the tip was good. ( You never know when spring tension in a branch like that could reverse and kill you). But when you get anywhere near the trunk you always do an undercut a few inches from it to keep from peeling off the cambriun layer as happened in your video.

      stephen valestephen vale9 kun oldin

  • Glad I am in the group! Was that a little Lincoln 110v 125 flux/mig? Perfect for thin exhaust metal! I cleaned my shop last week to make a scrap run. I forgot I had one of those and I debated taking it for scrap because the inner metal line has a piece of wire stuck in it or kinked. I decided to throw it on Craigslist for $75. A guy from St. Louis drove to the northern outskirts of Kansas City to get it. I actually tried to talk him out of it because of the 4 hr drive but he really wanted it and is retired! He showed up in a VW Diesel Station wagon that was mint. He said it got 54 mpg and had 250ish k miles on it he shooting for 500k or more. I had about 9lbs of a 10 lb roll of wire in it so I guess he really only just had time in it. That inner wire is pretty cheap to replace I think. I told some guys at work and they couldn't believe someone would drive 4 hours for it as cheap as they are getting now. I'm sure someone on here will let me know if I screwed up! lol

  • If you undercut the branch a little before you go through it from the top, it wont peel of as much and damage the tree and its a little easier to control

    666Hansen666Hansen11 kun oldin
  • Funny how predictable UZworld can be. When I saw the limb peel off that strip of bark, I kinda knew what the comments section would say. Dozens of genius tree-surgeons who, mostly at least, have never cut off a limb, telling us all how to do the job without peeling the bark off. I was right about that but only the one comment saying that, working way above his head made it much harder. I'm sure, with 20/20 hindsight, Andrew would have undercut that limb, but remember, comments are important on YT and that wee bit of peeled bark filled the comments section. Justy sayin.... 😁

  • My neighbor fixes all giveaway lawnmowers and does a really good job at it. I am on my first power mower until he caught fire. My second when I was an adult I had for 25 years gave it to my son and he just quit using it because the drive mechanism broke. It was an oldie but goodie that I bought at Sam’s Club for probably 100 and something dollars. A little check for those smooth out rear drive wheels get an old navy white bicycle tire and silicone and sheet metal screw it to the wheels and you can snowplow with it🤪
