  • Hi I've worked on those rams and worked on fixing hydraulic rams that type definitely has ac ring in that cut-out knock out using a pin punch as wide as the hole then heavy rod bent to the ram radius until you get the c clip out it isn't coming off if the pin doesn't move heat steel tube but not hot or you reck the crome inside bore destroying ram if unsure get hydraulic shop to fix it

That's probably where the 1600 thumbs down came from. Don't believe me? Try posting a video with no ads at all and see how many thumbs down you get.

    Bob D.Bob D.2 oy oldin
  • i believe you're turning the cylinder cap the wrong direction. I have rebuilt many pneumatic cylinders and they are no different then the hydraulic ones. That lsot on the side under the cap is where the wire retainer is. look at the slot and you should see one end is ramped to allow the retainer wire (usually square stock) to enter at the tangent of the cylinder. So you should be able to figure out which way to rotate the cylinder to remove it. The retainer is a straight piece of stock when new before installed.

    Bob D.Bob D.2 oy oldin
  • Smart move using the hoist. I bet you are glad you went to the trouble to install it. You are right it's not about the weight but the awkward position you'd be in to try and pull it out.
